Actress Moon Ga-young is taking over the spotlight from Park Bo Young, who was praised for her recent role in “Our Unwritten Seoul”. As tvN struggles to regain viewership after several high-budget flops, all eyes are now on Moon’s new drama “Law and the City”, set to premiere on Saturday, July 5.

Earlier this year, tvN faced multiple ratings disappointments, including the ₩50 billion production “When the Stars Gossip”, “The Divorce Insurance” and “The Potato Lab”. However, Moon Ga-young’s “My Dearest Nemesis” drew solid ratings in the 4% range, prompting her swift return to the network just four months later.

“Law and the City” follows the daily lives of five “associate lawyers” working in Korea’s legal epicenter. Moon plays Kang Hee-ji, a passionate and honest second-year lawyer who believes in people more than cases. Determined to make a difference one life at a time, she enters Seocho-dong hoping to be a defender of humanity rather than just a legal technician.

Recently released behind-the-scenes still cuts reveal Kang Hee-ji’s vibrant routine—from fixing her outfit nervously in the elevator on her first day, to enjoying lighthearted lunch breaks with fellow associates. Her day-to-day hustle brings relatable warmth to the high-pressure legal world.

Moon Ga-young’s Anticipated Transformation

Moon Ga-young promises to bring a new, humanistic dimension to the lawyer archetype through this role. She describes the drama as “a story about people”, and hopes to show a compassionate, grounded side of legal professionals. Having earned acclaim for breathing life and color into each of her roles, fans and critics alike are eager to see how she reshapes the character of Kang Hee-ji.

tvN is hopeful that Moon’s nuanced performance will help them bounce back from recent underperforming series. With her natural charm and emotional depth, “Law and the City” might just be the redemption the network needs.

The first episode of “Law and the City” airs Saturday, July 5 at 9:20 PM KST on tvN.
